  • Handwoven Kutchi Bedspread in Blue with Extra Weft Motif

Handwoven, organic, Kala cotton bedspread created by Mansukh Vankar from Kutch in Gujarat, India.

The region of Kutch is culturally rich with various weaving techniques, embroidery, block printing, tie & dye, and other handcrafts. Karghewale works with weavers in the region of Bhuj. The techniques used are extra weft insertion resulting in colorful Kutchi motifs, most common of which are chowmukh and damru.

Recently, Kala cotton, an indigenous, hardy cotton variety grown only in the arid region of Kutch, has been the prevalent raw material of the weaving community there. It is organic, indigenous, hand-spun and handwoven, making it one of the most sustainable fibers.

    Size is approximately 110" x 90"
4-shaft weave in Kala cotton in blue and white with extra weft motif, and horizontal and vertical stripes.
