Sprout Enterprise® Impact in 2021
With your support this past year, we helped our NGO partners in India provide:
- Food rations and survival kits to families in rural Rajasthan and Bihar.
- Education for the students of the Kaliyachak Girls School and food rations for their families during lockdown.
- More than 2,500 days of work for laborers to reconstruct pynes in rural Bihar enabling them to support their families and improve the water supply for local farmers.
As part of our ecommerce operations, we provided advance payments to our partners so they could continue to pay the artisans working with them even though workshops and stores were closed during lockdowns.
Mexico's "Pottery of the Night" Is Perfect for the Day of the Dead
In the Oaxacan village of San Bartolo Coyotepec, Silvia García Mateos is one of the members of Colectivo 1050°, an artisan cooperative steering the 2,500-year-old tradition of black pottery back to its sustainable roots.

Rachna Sachasinh describes with care the pottery craft in Oaxaca and the work of the Colectivo 1050°, giving it the visibility it deserves. She spoke with Amando Pedro, other artisans of the cooperative, and with Kythzia Barrera and Diego Mier y Terán about their experiences in the world of pottery in Oaxaca.

Reimagining the Potential of the Artisan Sector
In an effort to feel less overwhelmed and to learn from others this past spring, we invited friends and colleagues to join us for a series of conversations around what changes we needed to see in the artisan sector to accomplish our goals and help to sustain our partners. Those discussions evolved into a program submission for the Social Capital Markets Virtual conference: The New Frontier of Entrepreneurship and Impact Investment: Reimagining the Artisan Sector.
